Downtown Dancers

Despite a rough and hectic start, leaving some editors without a seat, Charlotte Ronson delivered a chic updated version of the classic tale on dancewear as street wear.

Body suits, sheer knee hitting tights, and a cool mix of soft and hard brought together a small but light and fun collection. Contrasting soft pinks and nudes with harsh greys and blacks on sheer fabrics will be filling the closets of any 20 something downtown hipster next spring as Ronson has hit the nail on the head with what girls want to wear when the weather warms up agian.

Being able to combine comfort with a fashion forward look hasn't always been Ronson's forte, usually relying a quick trends her designs don't always catch the eye, but this season she and her models definatly moved forwards to a classic mature downtown dancer look.

Fashion Week Begins

Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 kicked off yesterday in New York City with houses like BCBG, L.A.M.B., Monique Lhuillier and Vena Cava keeping to their guns and doing what they do best with little tweaks here and there.

At BCBG Max Azria, party dress for the fun young early 20s girl was all over the runways. With bold floral prints and draped jersey in bright fun colors, it was no wonder that the front row was filled with up an coming "party all night" kind of girls such as Solange Knowles and Amanda Bynes.

Max Azria did a good job at taking last season extreme fashion pieces and transforming their concepts into ready-to-where for his target market. Hints of Jil Sanders strong geometric piping from last season made their way into Azria's more geometrical designs.

Overall this was a crowd appeasing line, nothing pushing the envelope too much, which is to be expected from a heavily based retail line.
